Something we would see in our Arizona Ranch country in Sonoita, Susan. The rider here reminds me of a beautiful and energetic person named Faith Boice. She is president of the Empire Ranch foundation. Her family owned the ranch for well over 40 years. She loves riding horses and has blond hair. She highly recommended that we watch the movie UNBRANDED. A great movie about the plight of our nation's wild horses.......fav/ like

Susan Esbensen replied:

Thanks so much Jerry! I hope they raise the money needed to restore the ranch! I will look for the documentary! Thank you!

Thanks Karen! My firend, shares your exact sentiment. The landscape part of this painting was a complete creation from my imagination. I looked at several photos of horses/riders and this pair is what emerged.

Love this gorgeous painting, Susan. I can pretend the girl on the bay horse is me, heading off into the mountains. Love it.

I don't know if anyone else has ever told you this before... but your work reminds me very much of one of my favourite artists of all time...Albert Pinkham Ryder.

Susan Esbensen replied:

No Tighe they have not. One lovely lady said my work reminded her of Pierre Bonnard. I will have to look up Ryder since I am unfamiliar with his work as I was of Bonnard's work. Thank you for the compliment!

About Susan Esbensen

Susan Esbensen

Deep within my spirit lies the need to express myself. Through my art I am able to continue this process and strive for ways to improve my craft. My paintings are a contemporary fusion. I allow them to go in a number of directions from loose, to a more representational style. Not easily classified, my art embodies aspects of Abstract, Expressionism, Impressionism, Symbolism, and Surrealism. A true reflection of my own multi-dimensional nature. Each painting I do is a little different from the last. The mood of the color scheme, the under-painting, my emotional input, my reaction to the world around me at that time, the soul and the drama of the subject, whether real or imagined creates a unique vision. I have...
